What monitoring actually watches
Hardware health
Failing drives, memory errors, overheating and batteries at end of life: the failures that give warning signs days before they stop the machine.
Patching
Security updates applied on a schedule across every device, and reported on. Consistency is what counts: one unpatched laptop and the door is open.
Backup verification
Backup jobs report their status here, so a silent failure surfaces the next morning rather than the day you need the restore. Running the backups themselves is a separate module.
Remote resolution
Most of what monitoring catches gets fixed remotely, often before you notice, with no appointment and no waiting for someone to drive out.
The alternative is waiting for something to break
Without monitoring, the first person to know about a problem is whoever it stops from working. By then a failing drive has become a dead drive, and a routine replacement has become a restore from backup with a day of lost work behind it.
The economics change too. Paying by the hour to fix things after they break gives a provider no reason to prevent them. Monitoring is what makes a flat monthly fee workable for both sides: fewer failures becomes the goal, not a side effect.
It is the same discipline as managing any other fleet of equipment: know what you have, know its condition, and replace it on a plan rather than on the day it dies.
What is actually installed
A lightweight agent goes on each computer and server. It reports device health and status continuously, and lets a technician connect when work is needed.
